Orchards in Bloom

Exploring the Pacific Northwest

All is right with the world.  At least in this part of the country.  No cherry blossoms in February up here in Oregon.  Oh, no.  Some people are saying our season is actually late, but I'm thinking it is actually right.  For the first time in years, we will actually get our cherries, peaches and apricots in mid-summer and our apples and pears in the fall.

I've been driving the Fruit Loop above Hood River for the last two weekends.  It has been cloudy, but the flowers keep coming in waves, despite the lack of sunshine.  At the higher elevations, they stilled haven't peaked.

Hundreds and hundreds, rows upon rows, of trees in bloom.  With snow-capped Hood and Adams in the background.

Pure Magic.
