Nene Crossings

I love taking photos of these wildlife crossing signs whenever I travel to a new destination.  More often than not, I never see the pictured creature in the flesh,  It can be very frustrating.   In Hawaii, however, I did.  It wasn't by the side of the road, though; it was behind the visitor's center at Haleakala National Park.  Does that count?
The Nene or Hawaiian Goose is the state bird and can be found on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Kaua'i and Hawai'i.  They are endemic to the islands.  They are cute little guys.  Glad I got to see them up close even if they weren't where they were supposed to be!  Can't they read?
