Mimi Goes Hiking

If I neglect Mimi for too long, she let's me know about it.  I've been doing a lot of hiking this summer in the foothills behind Santa Barbara.  I get up at the ungodly hour of six a.m. in order to beat the heat.

"Oh, no, you don't," she screamed from the living room last week as I was loading up my day pack with water and granola bars.  "You're not going anywhere without me!  Not this time!"  I've learned from past experience not to ignore these demands.  She can make my life a living hell.  So I threw her over my shoulder and off we went up the San Marcos Pass.  The sky was monsoonal.  The air, humid.  The view, spectacular.  Mimi was one happy camper!  Alleluia.  (And so was I.)
